How Photography can Change the World

Photography has a main role in the way that we think, there are three major ways it can affect the world.

Major Global Events
There is a lot of contention and war that happens throughout the world every day, but a lot of it we are oblivious to. A few photographers made an effort to show what really goes on in places like third world countries, and it has increased awareness of global issues. Some of these issues are:

1. The Vietnam War

This picture is depicting the crisis in Vietnam as civilians and soldiers are escaping after a Napalm bomb strike. After one picture of a girl running for her life went viral, it created public outrage and soon the war in Vietnam came to a halt.

2. Syrian refugees

Pictures of Syrian Refugees have helped people in other countries to realize that there are families like us in that position. It has influenced the public and the government to reach out to the Syrian Refugees.\

3. Poverty

Photographer Matt Black is famous for his photographs which work to increase awareness of poverty in modern America.
These few photographs have a worldwide effect and they are working to improve our world little by little.

Personal events
A picture can be a great way to capture a moment that you never want to forget. In these moments, when you look back on them you remember every detail. Whether or not its a loved one that has past on or if its your newborn baby.


Most memorable moments are with the ones you love most such as your family and friends.

Nature
Humans have a huge effect on the planet we live on. We can either do good or bad. Photography can expose huge environmental problems and maybe even get people to care. When you think of a picture of nature, you think of the beautiful world we live in and that all is great, that the earth is thriving. Most photographers portray this very well because there is tremendous beauty in this world. Although very few show the threats to our environment.







Turtles for example are threatened by garbage being dumped into the ocean.

The ocean, which covers a vast majority of the earths surface is being affected everyday. Such as pollution or over fishing have big impacts on the sea creatures that dwell in the ocean.

Not only are there threats to the ocean, there are threats to animals on land. Even threats to the human race. Right now, forest fires, hurricanes, floods, and many more disasters are affecting humans.




Even though there is a lots of disaster going on there is still beauty all around us. Photography can help us to understand and let these photos become a reality so that we can reach out and help those in distress. It is also a way for us to know that there isn't only bad in this world. There is still joy and love.

Photography has the capability to change the world. Whether its for better or for worse.
